Family Friendly Activities in Buenos Aires

I'm an American mom that's been living in Buenos Aires since June of 2024. I have two kids and we've spent a lot of time finding fun activities we can do with the kids that my husband and I enjoy as well. I wanted to share with you the list we have complied so you know what fun things to do first when you visit Buenos Aires.

Family Friendly Activities in Buenos Aires | Ecoparque

Ecoparque in Palermo is on the site of what used to be a zoo and is now an ecological park that still houses and takes care of animals. They have a lot of animals here, many that even roam free, including peacocks, maras, ducks, nutria, so many more. It's such a fun place and it is free! We have visited Ecoparque regularly while here and its easily a 10/10 for us.

Family Friendly Activities in Buenos Aires | Museo de la Imaginación y el Juego (MIJU)

MIJU is a children's discovery center located in Puerto Madero. Tickets must be purchased online and the price changes based on if you are an Argentine resident or not. The ticket you purchase is for a specific time, which is the biggest downside to MIJU. You only have 45 minutes inside the building so they can control crowds. Luckily, there is an awesome outdoor playground for the kids that you can play as long as you want before and after the scheduled time. The inside is so pretty! It's split into three different rooms based on age. We did two different rooms, one for our daughter who was in the 4-8 year old room and one for our son who was in the 0-4 room. They do a great job at catering the rooms to specific ages, but since it only has a 45 minute max time allowed I'm giving this a 7/10.

Family Friendly Activities in Buenos Aires | Museo de los Niños Abasto

The Museo de los Ninos Abasto is actually located in the Abasto shopping mall, which is really cool and very easy to access. It is also a children's discovery center that you have to buy a ticket for. However, the time block for this one is two hours, which was plenty of time for us. I will say that it was very crowded when we went in the early evening. We were there for the last session of the day and it was packed! I would definitely recommend going earlier in the day. This place is absolutely huge and there's so much to do but it can be a little overwhelming. We loved that there is a smaller area specifically for 0-3 year olds so the baby could run around as he pleased while our daughter was doing other things she wanted to do. It was lots of fun and easy to get to, but I'm only going to give this a 7/10 because of how crowded it was.

Family Friendly Activities in Buenos Aires | Museo Larreta

This is a family favorite and we honestly take anybody who comes to visit us here. It is in the middle of Belgrano and only a few blocks away from a metro station so it's very easy to get to. It's very inexpensive and most of the guides speak English and will give you lots of facts about the inside and outside of the house that are super interesting. There are also gorgeous gardens outside where you can let your kids run through without worrying they will destroy something. We absolutely love it here and definitely give it a 10/10.

Family Friendly Activities in Buenos Aires | Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur

This gem is located on the far edge of Puerto Madero. It is not exactly easy to get to, you will have to walk at least a kilometer from either of the public transport stations. However, it is free to get into, and once you're in, it's incredible. Beautiful wood pathways are everywhere, making it really easy to use a stroller and/or let a toddler run. There is tons of shade and honestly, we spent three hours here the first time we went and we didn't even cover the entire park. We could have definitely stayed longer! I would recommend making sure you have plenty of sunscreen and take food and water with you. All of the many benefits of this destination outweigh how hard it is to get to, so I'll give this one a solid 8/10.

Family Friendly Activities in Buenos Aires | Selvamania

There are several Selvamania locations around the city, but we went to the Nunez location and actually hosted our Halloween party there. It is only open in the afternoons during the week with limited hours on the weekends, but it was so fun! Having a party here was absolutely incredible. The staff members took care of literally everything - from games and activities, to food, napkins plates and candy, they did it all. They even had a bubble dance party at the end of the night! There was so much to do for everybody I could literally just sit back and relax and spend time with the adults. I know a lot of people also take their kids here to play after school on the weekdays so depending on the time and location it might be busy, but its still so worth it. We love that it's very easy to get to, there's something for everyone and the staff was incredible. This one very easily gets a 10/10!
