Toddler-Friendly Christmas Decor
Now that Thanksgiving is over, we are all excited and have had a good time decorating for Christmas! I want to share with you some of the toddler friendly Christmas decorations that I've collected over the years as I have made an effort to cater my Christmas decorations around my kids instead of the other way around.
What’s in My Bag: Holiday Overstimulation Edition
It's the holiday season, which means lots of fun things, but also a lot of schedule changes that can cause a lot of dis-regulation for the kids in your life. With that, I want to share with you the things that I always keep in my bag to help regulate my neurodivergent kids when we're out to dinner, at a holiday gathering or any other event. I like to keep these things in a separate small bag and I have one in my church bag, diaper bag and an extra so that I can put it in any other bag that I take. I also do my best to rotate things in the bag so that they don't get bored of the same items.
Making Over My Son’s Room Part 5: The Loft
I'm very excited to update you on the highly anticipated next phase of my sons room makeover! When I originally designed this build I only planned for the bed, the reading nook underneath and the second story. This room has really tall, vaulted ceilings so, as I continued the building process, I decided to add an additional story to the build so that the whole space was utilized. The ceiling has different heights so it couldn't go around the entire build, instead, my goal for this space is for it to be more of a small "look out" space. I'll show you how I built the platform and the ladder leading up to it. Let's get started!
Essentials for Parenting with ADHD
As most of you know, I'm a mom of two kids and I have ADHD. Parenting in general can be rough so navigating parenting with ADHD is sometimes pretty hard to manage. Over the years, I have developed some some tips and tricks to make parenting with ADHD easier that I want to share with you!
Ways We Ensure Meals Are Gluten-Free
This year, 2025, marks 15 years since I was diagnosed with a wheat allergy. Because of that I eat gluten free and am always looking for good gluten free options for me, my son who is also gluten free and my mom who eats gluten free and is often with us.
Creating a Neurodivergent Accessible Home *Updated*
A while ago, I wrote a post about curating a neurodivergent home. We realized the standard way of living we were raised with or that we saw other people living simply didn't work for our family. We have come up with systems that DO work for our family. This post really resonated with a lot of people, but as time went on and our home and needs changed, I figured other people would like to see how things changed as our family and needs changed too. Here are our updated ways to make our neurodivergent home work for us.
Making Over My Son's Room Part 4: Bridge & Railing
Today we're connecting the two sections with a bridge and safety railing. My original plan was to install the railing all the way across, but after creating the bridge and watching my son's joy of jumping off, I decided to change things up and cut the railing in half so there is an intentional section my kids can jump off of safely. This whole project has been so challenging as I adjust things and change up plans, but also SO fun as I learn new techniques, use my creativity and watch my children enjoy it.
How to Repurpose Your Pumpkins This Year
It's October, which means it's time to decorate for fall/Halloween! I love fall decorating, but I probably love pumpkin pillows probably best of all. My husband says that the pumpkins seem to multiply every year, but this year I haven't bought a single new pumpkin. I may have gotten a few other fall decorations but no new pumpkins, so he should be proud! Normally during this time of year I have a bunch of fall themed crafts or projects that I want to do. I've done pumpkin wreaths, tile mat designs, reconstructed my mom's concrete pumpkin tower and more. This year, though, since my brain is so focused on my son's bedroom build, I haven't felt the fall craft energy like I normally do. However, my mom and I were recently out running errands and we came across two different decorations that I absolutely loved and knew that I could recreate them at home and wanted to share them with you!
Polish Pottery Epoxy Table
We're back at it again with another resin project, this time a table for my mom. In all honesty, this project was hard, it stretched and tested me a lot, but in the end we got it done and I'm overall happy with it. It started off with a wrought iron table my mom bought off Facebook marketplace and some polish pottery pieces she wanted to be used. I already had the supplies and had done resin and pottery pieces before, so I was confident we could make this work.
Making Over My Son's Room Part 3: Reading Nook and Slide
In case you've missed it, I'm turning my son's room, which is on the third floor of our house, into the ultimate playroom and bedroom space. The room has vaulted ceilings so it was the perfect space to really go big. Today we're wrapping up the section of the room that we've been working on the last few weeks: the reading nook and slide.
DIY Floating Bookshelves
I'm back again with another small project in my son's room before we reveal another section of the room. We did a slide last week and we're tackling some bookshelves this week. It's a pretty simple project, but I wanted a complete tutorial that anyone could access to make their own. I recycled some wood from the guest bedroom headboard for this project and made a plan for a set of shelves that have a bar in front so we can fit big and small books on the shelf without them falling off.
DIY Melamine and Wood Slide
I'm still hard at work on my son’s room makeover. Today’s task is building a melamine and wood slide. I couldn't find any tutorials that were exactly what I wanted so I took pieces of different ideas and started dreaming up what I wanted from scratch. Being able to get creative with planning and giving myself the challenge is one of my favorite things to do! You've probably seen a fair amount of slides people are adding to their playrooms. They are getting pretty popular but the plastic slides are SO expensive. I did a little digging and found a couple of people who had made wood and melamine slides but they didn't give a step by step tutorial. So, once I figured it out for myself, I knew I wanted to share it so you can make one, too!
