Revamping My Daughter’s Space

Revamping My Daughter’s Space

In 2022, we gave my daughter a play kitchen and I decided the best place to put it was in her bedroom. I wanted it secured and flush to the wall so I removed the baseboard in order to install it. Funnily enough, this infuriated the internet. I got comments saying I would really regret removing the baseboards (in my own house) and I would hate myself when I had to replace them in a few years. It's been a few years now and, guess what? She's outgrown the kitchen. So I'm taking the kitchen and moving it so its easily accessible for my son. I'm a firm believer in using your space to benefit you the most at that point in time. In 2022, having this as a play area for my daughter was the best use of the space. Now, three years, it's not the best use for the space anymore and that's okay! So, I'm revamping her space, fixing the baseboard (gasp!), and setting up the new kitchen play area for my son.

Climbing Wall Gate

We've reached the third and final installment of the climbing wall for the treehouse at my parents house. So far I have done the rock climbing wall, the ladder wall, and now I'm doing the gate at the top of the wall so the kids can get into the treehouse, but not fall off the treehouse.

Valentine’s Day Tile Mat Ideas

It's been a little while since I did any tile mat designs since we've been in Argentina and I couldn't take it with me. Now that we're back and settled, I figured it was time to unleash my creativity again and churn out a whole new set of holiday themed designs.

Making the Climbing Wall

My parents revamped their backyard while we were gone and had the bones of a huge play structure built for my kids as part of it. The whole thing is a blank slate for me to be able to add all of the fun things and I am SO excited. They already have the swings underneath, which is great, but the builders also made a huge wall for me that I'm putting a climbing wall on one side of and a ladder on the other. Today, I'm starting the climbing wall!

Creating a Magnetic Wall Space for Magnatiles

I've talked about how magnet tiles are one of the main toys that we brought with us to Argentina because they're such an open ended toy and they're great for both of my kids. After four months here, I felt like it was time to change things up and add an extra element to our magnet tile corner.

Pantry Build Plans

If you've been following me for the last four years, you know about my pantry. It has wire shelving (which I hate) and doesn't use the space to its full potential. Well, right before we left for Argentina, there was a mealworm incident in our pantry and I had to rip everything out. I had to put some shelves up because there's a family staying in our house while we are gone, but they are really basic and just meant to be there until I can do something else. So the pantry it is at the top of my list of projects for when we get back from Argentina. Now that we are halfway through our time in Argentina, I'm really starting to think about what I want this pantry to look like and how I'm going to go about tackling the project.

Tree House Build Plan

My parents have a beautifully landscaped backyard that the previous owners spent a lot of money and time doing. For the most part my parents are reaping the benefits of it, except for in the back corner. The previous owner used it as a dog run, but my parents don't have dogs so my mom has decided that she wants to do something about this space to make it more usable for the grandkids. She lives 20 minutes away from me in Tennessee and wants to spoil them whenever she is able. We decided it would be so fun to surprise my daughter with an amazing tree house build!

How to Add Edge Banding to Your Project

We're going to take a quick pivot from our Argentina content to talk about a previous project. Remember the wall of closets in my mom's house for my grandparents that have now passed away? The one thing I did not do was add edge banding to the drawers and the shelves. So, I figured I would go over why you want to add edge banding to a project and how to do it.

Painting Our Organization Drawers

One of the first things I did when I first got to Buenos Aires was go to a local hardware store and buy a set of MDF drawers. Well, they were kind of plain and I really wanted to brighten them up a little bit. So my daughter and I got some paint and paint brushes, and decided to get creative!
